We Are Artists!

We sculpt.

We build.

We collaborate and design.

We draw using different mediums.

We experiment with colour.

We make our own paint and salt dough.

Puffy Paint Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup water
1 cup salt
1 cup flour
food colouring

Directions:

Mix together in bowl. When paint dries, it looks "puffy."

Salt Dough Recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup water
1 cup flour

Directions:

Mix the salt and flour together in a bowl. Add the water slowly. If dough is too sticky add more flour (you want the dough to be dry).

While salt dough creations may bake in the oven on low heat, microwaving them is time-saving option. Microwave for 2-4 minutes, depending on the size of the sculpture.

Paint when salt dough creation is cool.

Have fun!! :)

The students in kindergarten have been exploring, sorting, identifying and describing 3D shapes.

Identifying 3D shapes in everyday objects.

What's in the Mystery Bag? Students orally describe the 3D shape in the bag before revealing the mystery object.

Sorting 3D shapes.

Having fun building structures using foam blocks and shaving cream.

Play City

One of the students brought a plasticine and popsicle stick structure to school. She wanted to work on it further during play-based learning.

The interesting materials piqued a few other children's curiosity and before long, a plan to create a city was formulated. The colourful town was named "Play City," and incited whole group discussions regarding things we might find in a city, community helpers and what we want to be when we grow up.

Thank You!

I would like to send a sincere thank you to all of our families who attended our Holiday Social this past Tuesday, December 17th. The students did a wonderful job singing the song S-A-N-T-A and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at school.

Have a happy holiday! See you in January :)
